Presenter: Good morning and welcome to People Power. Today’s question is, what is your worst experience with builders? Here’s our first caller, Nadia. I wonder what her story will be.
Nadia: One time I called the plumber because I had a blocked toilet. He said it would be no problem. He was in the bathroom for five minutes and the next thing I knew water was pouring through the ceiling! I had to leave my house for two months while the damage was fixed.
Presenter: That’s a terrible experience! Let’s listen to Dave and see if his experience was worse. Dave…
Dave: I had an architect make some plans for an extra room at the back of the house. The plans were fine, but the contractor read them upside down, so when he had finished, there was no door and the windows were all on the inside! It was like a closed box!
Presenter: So what did you do?
Dave: Well, he had to fix it. It was a terrible mess. The electrician had to re-wire everything. It cost us a fortune!
Presenter: Unbelievable! Now our third caller, Pat.
Pat: Well, I wanted a big table, so I showed a carpenter a drawing, and she said that it would be easy. But when she had finished, I couldn’t believe my eyes! Two legs were shorter than the others, so I couldn’t put anything on the table. And to make matters worse, she blamed my drawing! I tried to explain that the drawing was in perspective, but she wouldn’t listen.
Presenter: Ha ha. That’s so dumb. OK, who do you think had the worst experience? Call in and let us know, or tell us your own bad building tale. The lines are open!
