Cathy: Hello, listeners! This is What's Cooking in Cathy's Kitchen. Today we are going to learn how to make perfect mashed potatoes with our favorite chef, Jean Paul. Good morning Jean Paul.

Jean Paul: Good morning, Cathy. This is a really simple recipe.

Cathy: Fantastic! Tell us about it.

Jean Paul: First you put the potatoes into a saucepan with a half teaspoon of salt. Now, this is very important—you have to add water until the potatoes are covered, but not too much.

Cathy: What happens if you add too much water?

Jean Paul: Disaster! They will be horrible.

Cathy: Oh!

Jean Paul: Then you boil the potatoes for a few minutes. After that, you reduce the heat and cover the potatoes.

Cathy: For how long?

Jean Paul: For about 15 minutes.

Cathy: That sounds awesome! Very easy!

Jean Paul: Easy? I guess...

Cathy: What do we do next?

Jean Paul: Next we add the secret ingredients—warm cream and melted butter. Put the potatoes into a bowl and add the cream and melted butter. Then mash!

Cathy: How wonderful!

Jean Paul: But be careful. Do not mash too much or your potatoes will be like glue.

Cathy: Ugh! Well, thanks, JP!

Jean Paul: That's Jean Paul.

Cathy: Sorry. Tune in next week when Jean Paul is going to show us how to boil the perfect egg!
